# getFirstAvailableBlock

> Returns the slot of the lowest confirmed block that has not been purged from the ledger.

Returns the slot of the lowest confirmed block that has not been purged from the ledger.

## On ThorNode

Forwarded to the upstream node with a 10 s timeout and one retry on a transport error. The oldest slot ThorEdge can serve for `getBlock`, `getTransaction`, `getSignaturesForAddress`, and related history methods.

## Parameters

This method takes no parameters.
